Every year, Members of the NSW and Federal Parliaments, councillors, diplomats, union officials, ethnic leaders, NSW Police and NGO representatives join with leaders of the Jewish community to celebrate Israel’s Independence Day (Yom Ha’atzmaut) at a cocktail reception in the city.
Taking place around May 14 each year, the reception is the major public affairs event of the Jewish community, with the NSW Premier as the keynote speaker, and addresses from the Leader of the Opposition and Ambassador of Israel to Australia.
